Washer Woes

Published by admin under Pandemonium on February 2, 2010

As a parent a washer and dryer become a vital part of your everyday life. So much so that the looming piles of laundry have become my nemesis. Faced with the fact that you will be without said washer and dryer though is a devastating blow and setback.

The other day we discovered that water was leaking out of the washing room, and making a river onto the patio and out under the bush. Not Good. After having our family friend Brian come and help Matthew pull the dryer and the washer out of their little utility closet they soon found the problem. The hoses were brittle, and with the recent cold weather had cracked and busted. Granted I’m thankful it was not the machine itself because lord knows we can’t afford to replace that, but at the same time I’m angry. WHO PUTS THE HOOKUPS FOR A WASHER AND DRYER OUTDOORS??!! I’ll tell you who does…..a TEXAN. Only they would think that because of their glorious weather it’d be alright to do so. It really takes a toll on the machines because of the changes from hot to cold are so drastic.

I think since we’ve moved here we’ve gone through 3 sets. Granted they weren’t brand new, but they should have at least lasted us a good five years each. This isn’t the first time we’ve had hoses bust either. It seems like a yearly thing come January or February this happens. Wherever we move too next indoor washing room will be HIGH on the list. I just hope they last until then (around August this year) because I really do not want to have to replace them.

It’s going to be awhile before we can replace the hoses so Bianca has graciously allowed us to come do laundry at their place. I’m thankful, but now laundry will be an ordeal getting the kids, Matthew, and I over there to do it. Hopefully the tax return is deposited this Friday.

Here’s hoping.
