Sprout Baby Food
Published by admin under In The Begining on June 5, 2009I have been dreading introducing solids to Naomi. With Vera we had a horrible time, and in fact she didn’t eat solids until she had teeth and could chew haha. That put a huge strain on our nursing relationship because I was her only source of nutrition up until she was 10 months. We tried every brand of baby food with her, and even tried making our own. However making your own is very time consuming, and on top of that it doesn’t taste that great after being unfrozen. I was worried we were in for the same ride with Naomi when we introduced cereals and she would just let the food sit in her mouth and cry. I asked the pediatrician about it, and she had suggested everything we had already attempted. The signs were all so familiar haha. The other day when we were grocery shopping though I noticed an interesting packaged organic baby food. I had never seen Sprout before. We picked up a couple of their products; Baked Sweet Potato and Sweet Peas. After doing some research on the product I noticed that the executive chef is Tyler Florence, off of the food network.
So with high hopes I busted out the Sweet Potatoes at lunch today. It did not disappoint! Right out of the resealable pouch it looked yummy, and smelled good. I tasted it, and was pleasantly surprised. Even Vera got a taste and liked it….and I can’t get her to eat vegetables for the life of me. I was crossing my fingers that Naomi would like it too. Sure enough she was scarfing it down, and was attacking the spoon. It wasn’t even her usual time to eat so I didn’t think she was to terribly hungry haha. I can’t even describe how happy that makes me. First try with her and we’ve found something she loves. I love it too because it’s good (since it’s organic)! I’m half tempted to buy some for Vera too so that she can get some more veggies in her diet.
