Impending Birthday

Published by admin under In The Begining on June 29, 2009

I have a lot to do and very little time to do it in. I decided Thursday that I was going to throw a birthday party for Matthew. Since I’ve known him(which I am not even sure how long that is haha) he has only had one party for his birthday. I believe he even referred to it as a “Taco Fest”  since all I could get to come over were my girl-friends. There was one guy there besides Matthew and that was Zack.  Zack was the only one who ended up having a happy birthday so to say at that party too haha. Since then money has always been an issue and things have always been tight so he’s very rarely even received presents from me.  Yeah sure we’ve had cake occasionally and I’ve given him a card or two that I’ve made, but it’s just not the same. I wanted to do something that shows how much I love him, and how much I appreciate him. Tuesday just kind of sneaked up on me though.  After the weekend the house was pretty much a disaster area, and all my chores had piled up again. I spent all morning cleaning surfaces(counters and dusting), but that isn’t even 1/4 of what I have left to do. I am not really able to do much of anything (besides blog) while the girls nap either. They are such light sleepers. I have to sweep the outside patio because the lawn care people from Friday left it a mess with trimmings and dead leaves everywhere. I also have a mountain of dishes to do. Some can just be thrown in the dishwasher after I empty the load that just finished running, but some need to be hand washed. I hate hand washing dishes. That’s what god made dishwashers for. Then I have to sweep all the hard floors so that I can steam mop them.  Lets not forget that the floors will need to be vacuumed, and the furniture moved. That’s just cleaning the house too. There is so much more that I need to do for the party itself. Yesterday I called everyone that I had invited on facebook, but I didn’t get a hold of some people. I am not sure how many are actually coming. Once the girls get up from their nap too I wanted to have Vera help me make some decorations. I was going to attempt to make a banner on the computer, but the ink is low so we’ll see. Then I need to make everyone mii’s because we’re going to be bowling on the wii. I wanted to have like a little tournament or something so I’ve been looking online for some way to do that with a large group of people. All we are having is cake, and something to drink. Matthew’s mom mentioned fajitas or something, but that is just a little to much for me to manage on a Tuesday evening. I think I’ll just make a pizza before guests show up. Matthew has to pick up the cake and drinks on his way home from work tomorrow. I ordered him a Star Trek cake so that he can have the little Enterprise that comes on it for decor on his desk at work. He’ll be the 1st person to see it since he’s picking it up, and I hope that it’s alright/correct. If you couldn’t tell I am really starting to worry. I want this to be fun and special.

Ontop of all that I’m second guessing myself on what I got him for a present. Then there is the question of should I wait until the party to give it to him or not.  It is somewhat of a personal gift, and will need somewhat of an explanation when he opens it. It is kinda “the card” too so I can’t write out what I want to say. I’m not sure onlookers would understand either. He has reassured me that he’ll like it no matter what, but now I just don’t know because he hasn’t really had something like it in a long time.  I don’t want to give to much away since he reads the blog. I guess I could just give it to him after we finish reading tonight before we go to bed. Technically it’ll be his birthday. However he won’t have anything to open at the party. I do not expect anyone to get him a present. After-all he’ll be 25 haha.

  1. Veronica Said,

Ah yes, the Taco Fest. I'm pretty sure we just about finished a handle of Smirnoff that night…..haha.

If I were you, I'd give him his present either late tonight or tomorrow alone. I prefer to give gifts in privacy when it comes to Randy. I just think there's something special that gets lost when other people are around. Especially if it's a more personal/specific gift. I can't wait cause we're throwing a big birthday party for Randy and his best friend Darien and his wife Ashley this year. Their birthdays are all within like a couple weeks of each other. I am sure it'll go good and you know he appreciates everything and will love anything you get him.
