Comments:I remember being spellbound after reading the novel in grade-school, but I do not remember the novel precisely to know how closely the movie followed. However this movie did not fail to amaze me. Visually it was spectacular what with all the story book creatures and special effects. It was not overdone, and was just right. The acting was superb. Brendon Frasier in a “dad” role was interesting, and he was very much the Mo I had imagined. As always Paul Bettany performed amazingly. His portrayal of Dustfinger was more than I had hoped for. The magic of the stories coming to life was also well portrayed, and actually believable. The entire film was just as enchanting as I remember the novel being as a child. I mean who wouldn’t want the stories they read aloud to come to life? It must also be mentioned however that the story is not just fantasy. It is riddled with suspense, action, and let’s not forget Mo’s underlying motive for even finding a copy of Inkheart; his love for his wife and his mission to return her to him. The movie is short, sweet, and to the point. There is never a dull moment. I give this film an A+. It’s really something the whole family can enjoy. I know Vera didn’t understand much of it, but she was just as enthralled in the movie was we were (However I was hesitate about her watching the part about the shadow)
