Themes to Fit your Mood…

Published by admin under In The Begining,Website on April 27, 2009

After going through all the theme websites I saw a bunch that I really ended up likeing. I got to thinking, why do I need to have just one website design. WordPress makes changing your themes as easily as changing your shirt. Sure I could wear my favorite shirt  for awhile, but then eventually change it up. Now, not only will readers come see what I’ve recently written, but they will come to see what I have on haha.

The theme I’m currently wearing is called sunray. As you may know if you’ve read recent posts I am in the process of reading “Twilight” by Stephanie Myers. This layout made me think of being in forks. The sun, which is rarely out there, cascading through the canopy of the trees. How beautiful!

Your Typical Boring Sunday…

Published by admin under In The Begining on April 27, 2009

Today was like every other Sunday… we sat around doing jack shit all morning & then went to Bianca’s for dinner. A very typical Sunday for us.

However we did all sit down together and watch Finding Nemo, which is amazing to get Vera to sit for more then 10 minutes. She’s watched it before, but I never realized how sad that movie was & how it would impact a little child who’s never dealt with certain emotions before. Vera was extremely engrossed, and even cried at the begging when the other fish ate the eggs and Marlon’s wife. I about stopped the movie right there! After thinking about it, better she learn about it from good ‘ole Disney then have one of our fish die and have to explain that to her. She was even tense with her “oh no” expression on her face when they were with the sharks and that creepy light fish haha. She was also chanting “ew ha ha” while Nemo was crossing Mount Wanna-hock-a-loogie. It’s amazing how much she is comprehending now vs. say two weeks ago. She was even shouting “Nemo” several times like she was looking for him too. She cracks me up.

At Bianca’s they bbq’d chicken, beef tips, and boudin(sausage stuffed with spicy rice). Very Yummy, and Tracie’s potato salad topped it all off! As usual Vera didn’t eat anything there besides chips. Ever since she had this potato there that hadn’t been fully cooked (not sure how that happened) she won’t touch anything unless it’s a “safe food”. If you are a mom you know what I mean. For those who do not;chicken nuggets, macaroni, chips, gold fish, or french fries. You get the idea anyways. Erica, Matthew’s step-sister, was there tonight with her little boy Aiden who is a couple of months older than Vera. She lives there, but is rarely home when we go over. Aiden and Vera had a good time playing together even though he’s always kind of mean to her, and she is definitely not good at sharing haha. I’m kind of worried though because she always seems to get sick after playing with him. To make matters worse Erica said he had just been to the Dr’s for a possible ear infection. I wanted to just turn right around and leave when she said that, but did not want to be rude. Yay….I just pray that she doesn’t get sick from having been around him. We didn’t stay very long. We’re not really able to stay very long anywhere now though. Vera’s at this stage where everything is really traumatic & throws fits practically everywhere we go. She makes it really miserable to do anything.
After getting home I decided to google search another Nemo Tracie and I had been talking about. We were trying to think of this movie we had seen as kids about a boy named Nemo who flew around on his bed. Strange and vague, I know. Google searching is one of Matthew’s favorite past times. I was excited to find out that we weren’t crazy and the movie did exist. Tracie will probably be happy when I tell her too. Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland came out only a year after Haley was born yet some how I did manage to watch this unpopular cartoon as a child. I loved this movie. It evoked my imagination, and I dreamed of going to slumberland! I will have to buy this someday so that I can share it with Vera and Naomi. After stumbling upon this movie I came across all sorts of movies that I had forgotten about like: A Troll in Central Park, Rock-A-Doodle, and The Princess and the Goblins. I forgot that back in the day there were more movies than just Disney,Pixar, and Dreamworks movies. Our culture is kind of lacking those independent and inspired cartoons today.
Vera and Naomi are both asleep so now it is off to slumberland….
