Today we decided we would take the girls to the park. We went to one of our favorites that is well kept, and has an amazing play area. We got there around 11:30 and didn’t leave until 1:00. Vera had a blast running all over the place. She really enjoys just being around other children. She doesn’t interact with them, but just their presence makes her excited. We went down several slides, swung for awhile, and Matthew even took her on the meri-go-round. I held Naomi while swinging, and I think she really liked that. At least I got a smile out of her anyways. I also held onto her and slide her down a small slide(I had a hold of her the entire time)….couldn’t tell if she was excited or scared hehe. That was the first time we have ever taken Naomi to the park. There is a first for everything. I took some good pictures of Naomi, but most of the pictures of Vera is just a streak going across the picture haha. After overstaying our welcome at the park i.e. Vera was turning red in the face,we decided we’d grab a hot-n-ready and head over to Grandma Bianca’s so that Matthew could help John fix her alternator. Well we got the pizza, but John who was suppose to be there at 1:30 took to long to get over there so we bailed out at 2ish. It was definitely for the best though because as soon as we got into the car to head home Vera and Naomi both had crashed. Neither of them even woke up when we brought them inside. A miracle. We had a nice time spending the day together as a family. Matthew made spaghetti and meat balls for dinner. It was delicious! He cooks the meatballs in this sauce he makes from the store brand sauce with all this stuff that he adds to it. mmMmmMmm! Matthew is such a great cook, and lucky for me he does the cooking the majority of the time.
After such a wonderful day it was sad to hear about Matthew’s great grandma. He got a phone call from his grandma saying that she had passed away this afternoon. Life is so interesting to me. We could be gone tomorrow, yet people do not enjoy the simple things. Matthew’s great grandma was a very sweet lady. I am so happy that she got to meet her great great granddaughters. She seemed really happy about them. I hope that I get to live to see my great great grandchildren. That is such an amazing feat.

Thursday the 23rd Matthew and I were able to attend the “Best Of” the year for San Antonio party thrown by SA Current. I guess you could say it was a mixer. There was a bunch of vendors advertising/offering products, free food, and yes I saved the best for last…..all you can drink free booze. Matthew got an invitation from work earlier in the week. A bunch of his co-workers were attending the party too, and informed him it was one of the best parties of the year or whatever. I guess since they advertised with SA Current they receive them. Originally Matt was invited just by himself, and he declined because he couldn’t bring me. Yes, he’s a sweetheart. It was like magically that day “Oh, there’s another ticket….can you come now?”. This may sound a little far fetched, but there is this lady he works with that acts very oddly about him…like makes him these extravagant lunches and talks to him all the time about everything and anything. I do not even make him lunch haha. I think this person had a lot to do with why he was asked to come just by himself. People just do not respect the sanctity of marriage these days…..Anyways whole other subject that makes me look like a crazy lady.
We got Grandma Bianca to watch Vera and Naomi for the night, and we set off for downtown where the party was being held at the Witte Museum. We made a pit-stop at Old Navy because Matthew was wearing old-man tube socks. After picking up ankle socks, and this cool polo we spotted were were off! It took us almost 45 minutes to get there because we were in stand still traffic. There was a battle of the marching bands going on at the Alamo Arena behind the zoo. It was a fiesta event which has been going on for a couple of weeks. There is hardly any parking at the Museum so we thought it’d be smart to park at the zoo. We got to the SA Current Party just in time to get our wristband & be let in. Thankfully Matthew’s co-workers had secured a spot at the front of the line.
The first thing they handed us when we walked in were Koozies , and a beer. How cool is that? It even gets better….on the Koozies were advertisement for a DWI lawyer in San Antonio. We got a good laugh over that one. There quite a few food vendors there. I don’t know where to begin, but we tried practically everything. What sticks out in my memory the most was the sushi & the deli sandwiches with a side of pasta salad. Maybe that’s because they tasted the best to me. I couldn’t keep Matthew away from the Mojito bar, but then again I wasn’t too far behind him. They had this really good one called a dragon berry….do not ask me what the heck that is. There were also cake samples and cupcakes. One of my many weaknesses. Then there was an Adam & Eve booth that we picked up some novelties from. I got this penis straw that I ended up using the entire evening haha. The majority of our evening though we spent around a table hanging out with Matthew’s co-workers. It was really nice to just kick-back and have an adult evening with other adults. You forget…..I spend almost 98% of my time at home. Also the people that Matthew works with are really pretty nice and easy to be around/get along with. After drinking a few Majitos, a couple of beers, stuffing my face, and smoking my free strawberry cigar (I do not smoke cigarettes, but when presented with a cigar I will light it up) we decided to head out early at 9 so we could put Vera to bed at a decent time. Well being responsible didn’t pan out. We had parked in the Zoo parking lot. Remember what I had said about the battle of the bands, well they were also leaving at 9. Guess where they all parked! Yep you guessed right….the same place we did;the zoo. After sitting on a bench watching some fire works that were being shot off we figured it would be a waste of time to sit in the parking lot so we decided to go check out the newly renovated Japanese Tea Garden. It was really beautiful, not the run down gratified park I had visited before. After that we figured that the parking lot should have pretty much cleared out, but we were badly mistaken. An entire throng of people where all heading at the parking lot at once. I had never understood the definition of a throng of people until that moment. It was all like a slow motion scene you see at the movies…and Matthew was like “RUN….”. We took off running to the car hoping that just maybe we would be able to beat all of those people out to our car. Yeah, we didn’t. We were probably the 5th to last people leaving that parking lot. However we did luck out because the police were leaving when our turn came to get out, and that allowed us to turn right and avoid traffic! We were home within minutes. I guess if we had just stayed until 11,when the party had ended, we may have been better off. However I did enjoy that time spent alone with Matthew. We rarely get time like that. It was practically perfect with the fireworks. For some reason Matthew and I have luck like that. At our wedding there were fireworks shot off over the lake that we hadn’t planned on too. Makes for a romantic evening. I am probably the biggest hopeless Romantic you will ever meet….or I should say read about since this is a blog haha.
At the end of the night I was happy to be going home to my babies, but at the same time getting out like that and being able to just be an adult/be alone with Matthew is a breath of fresh air.
